Strategic technology,
AI & digital consulting

Helping leaders make better
decisions about technology,
AI and digital change

Technology creates enormous opportunities for organisations, but it also creates complexity.

New AI capabilities emerge almost daily. Digital platforms become fragmented. Teams accumulate tools that do not work together. Data exists everywhere but does not necessarily support better decisions. And leadership teams are increasingly expected to make significant technology choices without always having the specialist knowledge around the table.

We help organisations make sense of that complexity.

Led by Graeme Thomas, our consulting work brings together technology strategy, AI, digital transformation, governance, design and practical implementation to help organisations understand where they are, decide where they need to go and create a realistic route to get there.

The objective is not more technology. It is better business enabled by the right technology.

CONSULTING GROUNDED IN DELIVERY

There is an important difference between recommending what an organisation should do and understanding what it takes to actually do it.

Graeme has spent more than 20 years working across design, digital products, websites, software and technology-led projects, including work for organisations and brands such as the NBA, Nike, Snapchat, eBay, Hilton, the BBC, the NHS, Sky and Blancco Technology Group.

As Director of Thomas Grey Creative, he also works directly with designers, developers, marketers and senior stakeholders to turn ideas into practical systems.

That means our consultancy does not stop with a strategy document.

We consider the technology, people, processes, governance, user experience and implementation required to make a recommendation work in the real world.

HOW WE CAN HELP

TECHNOLOGY STRATEGY

Understanding where an organisation is today, deciding where it needs to get to and setting out a realistic route between the two. We look at platforms, systems, skills and priorities together, so the plan reflects what the organisation can actually deliver.

AI STRATEGY & ADOPTION

Identifying where AI genuinely creates value, what it will take to adopt it and how to introduce it without disrupting the work that already runs well. We focus on practical, measurable opportunities rather than experiments for their own sake.

AI GOVERNANCE

Policies, guardrails and review processes that let teams use AI with confidence. We help leadership teams understand the risks, agree what good looks like and put oversight in place that is proportionate to the organisation.

DECISION SYSTEMS & EXECUTIVE INTELLIGENCE

Bringing scattered data together into reporting that leadership teams can act on. The aim is fewer places to look, clearer signals and information that arrives in time to change a decision.

DIGITAL & OPERATIONAL CONSULTING

Reviewing the digital platforms, workflows and handovers an organisation relies on day to day, then simplifying them. We look for the manual steps, duplicated tools and bottlenecks that quietly slow teams down.

INDEPENDENT STRATEGIC ADVICE — WITH DELIVERY AVAILABLE WHEN YOU NEED IT

Advice that is not tied to a platform, a licence or a build. If you would like the recommendation delivered as well, our design, development and AI teams can take it on — but that is always your choice, never a condition of the advice.

Supporting agencies & partners

We also provide specialist consultancy to creative, marketing, technology and e-learning agencies.

This can be particularly useful when an agency encounters a requirement slightly outside its normal capabilities or needs additional senior expertise during a tender or complex client engagement.

We can support with:

  • Tender and pitch strategy
  • Solution architecture
  • Technology recommendations
  • Technical discovery
  • UX and digital strategy
  • AI opportunities
  • Complex project scoping
  • Client workshops and meetings
  • Specialist delivery support

We can operate openly alongside your team or provide support behind the scenes.

When to bring us in

You do not need to have a defined technology project before speaking to us.
In fact, consulting is often most valuable when the problem is still unclear.

You might come to us because:

  • You know AI could benefit the organisation but do not know where to start.
  • You have too many systems, dashboards or data sources.
  • A manual process is consuming too much time.
  • You are considering a significant technology investment.
  • You need an independent assessment of an existing solution.
  • Your leadership team needs greater confidence discussing technology or AI.
  • You have an idea but do not yet know whether it is technically or commercially viable.
  • You need someone who can translate between leadership, creative and technical teams.
  • You want to understand what could be automated before investing in development.

Sometimes the outcome is a new system. Sometimes it is a roadmap.
And sometimes the most valuable advice is not to build anything at all.

About Graeme Thomas

Graeme Thomas

TECHNOLOGY, CREATIVITY AND BUSINESS STRATEGY

Graeme Thomas is a Director of Thomas Grey Creative and a creative and technology leader with more than 20 years of experience across digital design and technology.

His career began in design before expanding into UX, digital products, web development and increasingly complex technology systems. Today his work sits at the intersection of technology, AI, business strategy, governance and human-centred design.

That multidisciplinary background allows him to move comfortably between executive conversations about strategy and value and detailed discussions with the teams responsible for implementation.

Alongside his client work, Graeme continues to undertake executive education focused on technology leadership, AI governance and company direction.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education Chief Technology Officer Programme — currently completing
  • Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education AI Governance for Boards and CXOs
  • Institute of Directors Accelerated Certificate in Company Direction programme
  • Institute of Directors Working towards the Diploma in Company Direction and ultimately Chartered Director status

His ongoing professional development reflects the same principle that underpins our consultancy work: understanding technology is important, but understanding strategy, leadership, governance and the organisation around it is what allows technology to create lasting value.

A different kind of technology consultancy

We are deliberately technology-agnostic. We do not need to recommend a particular software platform, development framework or AI provider. Instead, we start with the organisation. We ask you:

  • What are you trying to achieve?
  • What is getting in the way?
  • Where is time being wasted?
  • What information do your leaders need?
  • Where could technology genuinely create an advantage?

From there, we help you determine what should happen next.

Talk to us about consulting

You do not need a finished brief. If you are considering an AI initiative, struggling with a digital process, reviewing your technology strategy or simply want an independent perspective on what could be done differently, we would be happy to discuss it. Tell us what you are trying to solve, and we can help you work out what comes next.
